Disrupting cycles of violence - starting at school, with students, caregivers and educators.

Overview
A culturally responsive primary prevention program in WA, aiming to drive big conversations around violence, respectful relationships and healthy family models.
Who is this program for
Safer Pathways is delivered to all school-aged children within partner schools, interested caregivers and identified school staff
About the program
The Safer Pathways program works closely with culturally-diverse learning communities across Perth to address the underlying drivers of violence and prevent family violence before it happens.
Through Safer Pathways, teachers, caregivers and kids learn tools to identify and challenge harmful attitudes, support each other to be safe, and build stronger connections. It’s designed with the community, for the community, so every conversation feels relevant, respectful and real.
Safer Pathways works collaboratively with children and their families to tailor workshops to the specific needs of the local community.
Since launch, Safer Pathways has supported:
- 100% of caregivers to feel confident in talking about healthy relationships - and 80% told us they knew more about how to recognise unhealthy relationships.
- 80% of educators to grow their understanding of the impacts of domestic and family violence and trauma on children’s development and behaviours.
