Head, Heart and Hands Together: a framework for cultural responsiveness
A practical framework to help build culturally responsive practice by listening deeply, working in partnership and strengthening relationships with communities.

Heads, Heart and Hands Together is 54 reasons’ framework for cultural responsiveness. It guides how we think, feel and act when working with children, families, colleagues and communities across diverse cultural contexts.
The framework centres community voices and recognises that cultural knowledge, authority and expertise sit within communities themselves. It encourages reflective practice, shared decision‑making and continuous learning, helping teams move beyond good intentions to culturally respectful action.
Designed for use across our organisation, the framework supports leaders, practitioners and teams to strengthen relationships, navigate power and difference, and embed cultural responsiveness into everyday practice.
We're sharing so that others can learn from our progress, and take what is useful for your own practice. It may particularly relevant for those working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities, and in any setting where cultural safety and respect are essential to achieving meaningful outcomes.
