Communities for Children
A place-based program in the East Kimberley bringing communities together to improve outcomes for children and families through coordinated and culturally responsive early childhood and family support.

Overview
Communities for Children supports children and families by strengthening the local service system. In Kununurra and across the East Kimberley, 54 reasons works with community partners to plan, fund and coordinate services that support early development, family wellbeing and strong, connected communities.
Who is this program for
Children aged 0–12 years and families living in the East Kimberley region
About the program
Communities for Children is a long-standing, place-based initiative focused on improving outcomes for children aged 0–12 and their families in communities experiencing disadvantage.
In the East Kimberley, 54 reasons delivers Communities for Children as the facilitating partner – working alongside local organisations to strengthen the service system rather than delivering services directly. This includes leading community planning, funding local partners, and supporting coordination across services. The program focuses on early childhood development, family functioning and community capacity, with a strong emphasis on culturally responsive, community-led approaches that reflect local strengths, knowledge and priorities.
