About the program

Communities for Children is a long-standing, place-based initiative focused on improving outcomes for children aged 0–12 and their families in communities experiencing disadvantage.

In the East Kimberley, 54 reasons delivers Communities for Children as the facilitating partner – working alongside local organisations to strengthen the service system rather than delivering services directly. This includes leading community planning, funding local partners, and supporting coordination across services. The program focuses on early childhood development, family functioning and community capacity, with a strong emphasis on culturally responsive, community-led approaches that reflect local strengths, knowledge and priorities.

This program includes

Funding and support for local community organisations to deliver services
Community-led planning to identify priorities and shape local responses
Coordination across services to improve access and outcomes for families
Monitoring and evaluation to strengthen impact over time
[54 reasons] comes and supports us... We all talk together and see what we need, when and where ... it's been a really good thing for our children
