Who is this program for

Children and young people under 10-18 (or up to 22, when also a parent) who are disengaged from education and who are at risk of, or in contact with the justice system.

About the program

Through BTC-54 (Break the Cycle-54), we work with young people who face disadvantage and are in contact with the youth justice system - including those on bail or who are transitioning from detention - to identify and realise their learning, work and life goals.

Our Youth Specialists create a fun, culturally safe space to support young people to reduce contact with the justice system through practical mentoring and support.

This program includes

Reconnection to education: We work closely with schools, families, and services to re-engage young people in learning and transition them into education, training, or employment.
Preventing offending: We address the root causes of harmful behavior, offering positive alternatives and structured, strengths-based case management.
Social and emotional skills: We run practical sessions to build emotional regulation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Life skills: Young people develop hands-on skills in cooking, communication, job readiness, and healthy routines—tailored to their interests.
Rights and advocacy: We empower young people to understand their rights, take responsibility, and have a voice in decisions that affect them.
