Overview

Our Youth Support Service is here for young people in Mount Isa and the Gulf region who aren't well supported in other areas of their lives, who might be at risk of disconnecting from family, community, learning, work and/or culture.

Who is this program for

Youth Support Service is delivered to young people aged 8 to 21 years who are at risk of disconnection from family, community, learning, work, culture, social activities or informal support networks.

About the program

Children and young people in remote and rural QLD face a number of additional challenges in life which can impact their safety, wellbeing and ability to thrive. Whether it’s disconnection from family and friends, disengagement from school, mental health challenges or disconnection from culture, our Youth Specialists are there to listen and offer guided support to get you back on track.

This program includes

The Youth Support Service connects with young people across the region, meeting them where they are to provide support which includes:
Information, advice & referral: Ensuring young people have easily accessible information, can more easily navigate community supports and are warmly referred to specialist services.
Case work and targeted interventions: which includes role modelling, 1-1 mentoring, practical supports and goal setting.
Community Support: elevating young people's voices within the community, giving them a platform to have a say in how local services support their needs.

Anyone in the areas listed above can refer to Youth Support Service - including individuals, schools, community partners, legal supports, government agencies or youth networks.
