Overview

Families from culturally and linguistically diverse communities can face additional barriers when seeking support for family and domestic violence. This service provides culturally safe, trauma-informed support to help women and children stay safe, access the right services, and build stability, confidence and connection in their lives.

About the program

Family and domestic violence can be complex – especially for families navigating language, cultural and system barriers. This service walks alongside women and their children, providing culturally responsive, trauma-informed support that builds safety and trust over time.

Support includes early intervention, risk assessment and safety planning, alongside practical help to navigate housing, legal, financial and health services. The service also focuses on long-term wellbeing – strengthening parenting confidence, supporting children’s development, and building social connection.

By working closely with local services and communities, the program creates a coordinated, culturally safe response that helps families move towards safety, stability and recovery.

This program includes

Culturally responsive family and domestic violence support for women and children
Risk assessment, safety planning and early intervention support
Advocacy and help navigating services including housing, legal and health
Support to strengthen parenting, children’s wellbeing and family stability

How to access this service

Families can access the service through referrals from local organisations, community networks or other 54 reasons programs. We also take a ‘no wrong door’ approach, meaning families can be connected through a range of entry points and guided to the support they need.
