About the program

Our refuges provide crisis accommodation and in-community support for women and their children who are escaping violence. We create safe and welcoming environments for children, and support families to rest, build safety and begin to heal from trauma.

These services are grounded in a child-rights approach, ensuring children are recognised as victim-survivors in their own right and have their own spaces in the refuge.

Our service is culturally responsive and inclusive, welcoming families of all backgrounds - including pets. Our priority is recovery, dignity, and long-term stability for all clients, helping women and children transition into secure housing and rebuild their lives on their own terms.

This program includes

Child-friendly secure & confidential accommodation: Our refuge accommodation is designed to feel like a home. We conduct daily checks of security and safety mechanisms and maintain the confidentiality of their location to protect families’ safety
Risk & safety planning: We support families to develop safety plans & achievable goals tailored to their individual needs
Case management & practical support: We help families on-site to plan for the future providing support to achieve case goals, connecting to specialist services and providing practical supports
Mobile outreach: Our teams do assertive outreach within the local community to identify and support families experiencing violence who are unable to enter supported accommodation or who are transitioning out. This includes home visits, case management and warm referrals.
