SHIELD: Support for boys and men
A safe and supportive service for men and boys in Queensland who have experienced sexual violence.

Overview
Specialist counselling and supportive case management for boys (14+) and men (including trans and non-binary people) who have experienced sexual violence.
Who is this program for
SHIELD supports male-identifying people aged 14+ living Queensland who have experienced sexual abuse or assault. Your assault experience may have occurred outside of Queensland, or a long time ago – that’s okay. SHIELD is an inclusive service; we welcome trans and non-binary clients.
About the program
Sexual violence can happen to anyone, regardless of gender, sexuality, or age – and it is never the victim-survivor’s fault. Feelings and experiences following sexual assault can be complicated, especially for boys, men and people from the LGBTIQA community. We’re here to help.
We offer counselling and case management services in a safe, welcoming and nonjudgemental space. Whether you want to talk about your experience, need help navigating systems, or just want someone to walk alongside you, we’re here.
When you’re referred to SHIELD, one of our workers will make contact with you to collect some information, and organise your first support session.
